Here are six advertisements pulled from the February 15, 2008 issue of American Way magazine. Considering a full page insertion costs over $25K, we know significant resources were invested in creating these ads. Yet several of them have, from a marketing communication perspective at least, severe flaws.
The major flaws should be apparent after a brief inspection. It may take more reflection to discover the minor flaws. And unless otherwise noted, the problem is not so much what the ad says. Rather the problem is what the ad does NOT say!
Up for a challenge? Good! See if you can find the flaws!
